1.) In all countries, respondents reported they most often drink among the company of “friends”.
2.) “Spouse/Boy friends/Girl friend” or “Boss/Colleague/Subordinate” are ranked second or third among the 5 countries.
Question 2: What are your main reasons for drinking alcohol? (Up to 3 Choices)
1.) In all countries, except Japan, “Socializing with friends” is the main reason to drink.
2.) On the other hand, in Japan “Like the drinking atmosphere” is the most common reported reasons.
3.) Compared to respondents in other countries, more Chinese respondents answered that business socializing is considered a reason to drink alcohol; 46% reported so.
Question 3: What is your alcohol tolerance? (Single Choice)
1.) In all countries, “average tolerance” is the top response; Approximately 35-44% of respondents in each country answered so.
2.) Relatively speaking, more Japanese respondents seem to consider themselves to have an above average/high alcohol tolerance.

1.) In China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, “become quite” is the top reported behavior, followed by “no change”.
2.) On the other hand, in Japan and Korea, the top response is “talk a lot” followed by “laugh a lot”.
Question 5: How much do you spend on drinking each month? (Excluding Food Costs)
1.) Among the 5 countries, it seems that Korean respondents spend the most money on drinking, regardless of age; about 80% said they spend over $100 per month. Notably, 47% of Korean respondents aged 45-59 years answered that they spend over $300 per month on alcohol.
2.) Hong Kong ranked second in reported monthly drinking expenses;61% spend more than $100 per month.
3.) On the other hand, Japanese seem to spend money the least;78% claimed to spend less than $100 per month. 89% of female respondents said they spend less than $100 monthly.

1.) In all countries, the yes/no ratio was about 50/50, except Japan, where 81% said they are unaware of alcohol trends.
2.) In addition, when considering age, only 17% of Japanese respondents over 45 years old reported yes, while about 50% of the same age groups in other countries reported affirmatively.

1.) In Japan, regardless of gender, beer is the first choice. Among Japanese females, sparkling wine is equally considered to be the top choice for the next trendy beverage.
2.) In Korea, wine is ranked as the top followed by beer and shochu. However, when considering gender and age, the results vary. For all ages among females, wine is the top choice whereas male respondents named different drinks as the next trendy beverages.
3.) In China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, regardless of age, wine is the first choice by far.
4.) Among Taiwanese males, whisky was ranked higher than the same gender groups in other countries.
