Question 1: Who do you usually travel with? (Single Choice)
1.) Across China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan,, the most common response was (approximately 40% of respondents) that they travel with their spouses and/or significant others.
2.) Friends are the second most common travel companions, in both Japan and Korea.
3.) Females were more likely to travel with their parents/children than males.
4.) As many as 23% of Korean and 27% of Chinese male respondents, over other types of respondents per gender and per country, tend to travel with their co-workers.
Question 2: When planning an overseas trip, what are the most important criteria? (Multiple Choice)
1.) The three most important factors were the quality of accommodation, sightseeing and meals.
2.) Korean respondents (about 40%) showed a keen interest in interactive and experience-based programs, whereas 50% of Chinese respondents cited that shopping is an important factor.
Question 3: What do you typically look forward to on vacation? (Multiple Choice)
1.) Sightseeing, local foods and relaxation are the top three enjoyments for Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese respondents.
2.) While 49% of Chinese, 38% of Taiwanese and 21% of Korean respondents, respectively, said they enjoy outdoor sports on vacation, only 6% of Japanese respondents claimed to do so.
Question 4: How do you handle obtaining foreign currency for your travels? (Multiple Choice)
1.) In all countries, “charging by credit card” and/or “changing money before traveling” are most common.
2.) In addition, Japanese respondents (42%) change money at the travel destination, whereas Chinese respondents seem to withdraw cash from international bank cards (32%) and credit cards (24%).
Question 5: How do you mainly buy overseas accident insurance? (Single Choice)
1.) For all countries, ”credit-card travel insurance” and “through the travel agency” are the most common ways in which travel insurance is purchased.
2.) However, more Taiwanese respondents seemed to purchase insurance directly through insurance agencies.
Question 6: Where do you want to travel to next time? (Up to 3 Choices)
1.) In Japan, Korea and China, the most popular next-trip destination is Europe; in Taiwan, Japan proved to be most popular, followed by Europe.
2.) Among all countries with the exception of Japan, Asia was not among the top three destinations to visit.
3.) However, as many as 40% of Chinese respondents claimed to be interested in going to Hong Kong for their next destination, and approximately 40% of Koreans named Japan as their favored next destination.

1.) Across the countries, the local airline companies were placed in the higher ranking.
2.) In Japan, ANA is most preferred followed by JAL and Singapore Airlines.
